Blizzard hosted its annual Mega-event “Blizzcon”- an annual 2 day convention hosted at Anaheim Convention Center every year that discusses every Blizzard related games and news- during 1st and 2nd of November. This year’s Blizzcon brought news of multiple new releases coming soon by Blizzard.

After the infamous debacle of “Diablo Immortals”- a mobile Diablo game- that sent the dedicated Diablo loving fans into a frenzy, the Diablo franchise needed a second wind to get the fans excited once more about their beloved game. Blizzcon 2019 brought exactly that to the fans coming to the Diablo Panel with the announcement of the 4th installment of the Diablo series “Diablo IV” with a breathtaking dark announcement cinematic. However, Diablo IV is under development as of now and would need some time to hit the live servers. Nevertheless, the fans were out of their mind after getting the news.

There have been some leaks about news regarding Blizzard working on Overwatch 2 and turns out the news were true. Blizzcon 2019 brought with it the news of a total new way of how sequels work with the announcement of “Overwatch 2”.

According to game director Jeff Kaplan, Overwatch 2 would redifine the way the gaming industry looks at Sequels. The sequel was announced alongside new gameplay footage, a mesmerizing cinematic trailer, nod at new maps, heros and most important of all addition of “highly replayable PvE content”. The way the sequel works is that the orignal and the sequel will share the same 6v6 PvP setting and would see same hero and map updates. Players from Overwatch and Overwatch 2 would be able to play in a PvP setting with each other, however the additional Hero missions and PvE content will be exclusive to Overwatcu 2. Like Diablo IV, Overwatch 2 is under development as well but is expected to be launched mid 2020.

Ion presented the audience with the Cinematic Trailer for the new expansion named “World of Warcraft- Shadowlands”.

The new expansions focuses on the rogue Horde Warchief turning her back against the living and defeating the Lich King, exposing the Shadowlands- the afterlife realm of the World of Warcraft universe. The new expansion brings new zones, new quests, raids and dungeons and new features.

Hearthstone, the Blizzard online card game also got a place on the new addition list with an upcoming Hearstone expansion named “Hearthstone- Descent of the Dragons” which brings new cards and a new feature named Battlegrounds alongwith new Legendaries.

Blizzard has seen many ups and downs in 2019 but Blizzcon 2019 shows some promise and with overall positive reception from the fans and the community, 2020 seems to be a better year for the company that redifined the gaming industry once with their quality gaming experience.
